What is going to change?
Less advertisement and more posts of family and friends will show up on your news feed. How does this influence the recruiters among us? Less exposure and referrals on your sponsored posts! As Facebook states: “..we’ll show less public content, including videos and other posts from publishers or businesses”. This will result into a decrease on reach and traffic on Facebook
Why the change?
It’s a striking and major change from Facebook. The reason for this adjustment? Facebook wants us to see more posts from our loved ones because it has an effect on our well-being and happiness. After receiving a lot of feedback about the fact that public posts (mostly from companies) overshadow posts from family and friends. Facebook made the decision to change the algorithms.
Is using Facebook in your recruitment process going to be useless? No, public post will not disappear. You should, however, change your strategy as your reach will decrease. Facebook will prioritize posts that have ‘valuable’ content and show them higher in the news feed. These are posts that spark conversations and meaningful interactions between people. The more valuable your post is in relation to the target group, the higher it will show up on the news feed.
Therefore, you need to be creative with your post, focus on engagement and specify your target group. Make sure your content fits!
Our expectation is that Facebook will be less effective as a recruitment source. From our vision on recruitment marketing, where we always work from the 4 platforms, we can easily shift budgets. We can shift this within the social platform to LinkedIn, but equally outside this platform towards SEO/SEA or Active Talent Sourcing.
